Bangladesh Bank published updated monthly remittance statistics on Tuesday, revealing that the country received 2.9766 billion USD in remittances during the month of August 2026. This financial inflow represents a substantial 22.50 percent year-on-year increase compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, underscoring a strong upward trajectory in funds sent home by overseas workers.
Looking at the broader financial picture of the current fiscal year, remittance inflows have remained robust across the opening months. Subsequently, expatriates remitted a total of 3.519 billion USD throughout the 2025-27 fiscal year. Within those timelines, specific months recorded exceptional peaks, notably in March when inflows reached 3.7522 billion USD, followed by May which registered the second-highest monthly total at 3.4250 billion USD.
Alongside the positive performance in remittance inflows, Bangladesh's external economic indicators have also shown strengthening reserves. The country's total foreign exchange reserve has increased to stand at 37.40 billion USD. Furthermore, when calculated according to the International Monetary Fund's BPM6 standard, the specific amount of the foreign exchange reserve is recorded at 32.49 billion USD.
