Bangladesh Narrows Squad for FIFA ASEAN Cup Preparations
Head coach Tomas Dooley has trimmed the Bangladesh national football team squad from 35 to 28 players following Wednesday afternoon's training session. The team will train with the remaining players for one week before selecting 19 squad members to travel to Indonesia on 19 September.

The Bangladesh national football team has officially begun the process of finalizing its squad ahead of the upcoming international fixtures. Head coach Tomas Dooley has taken the initial steps to reduce the size of the active training camp, making crucial cuts to the roster during the ongoing preparations.
Following Wednesday afternoon's intensive training session, the coaching staff decided to release seven players from the initial group of 35 footballers. With these initial cuts now completed, the remaining 28 players will continue their preparations under the watchful eye of the coaching staff during a focused one-week training block.
As the training schedule progresses over the coming days, further evaluations will be made to finalize the traveling party. From the current group of 28 players, exactly 19 individuals will be carefully selected to make the official journey to Indonesia, with the departure scheduled for 19 September.
Amidst the squad adjustments, several notable overseas-based talents have successfully retained their places in the shortened 28-man roster. This group of survivors includes American expatriate goalkeeper Saif Kerawala, alongside Japanese expatriate shooting Itofusa, both of whom remain in contention for the final tournament squad.
Looking ahead to the main tournament, Bangladesh has been drawn into Group A for the FIFA ASEAN Cup. In this group stage campaign, the national side will face a series of challenging encounters against formidable regional opponents, specifically Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The tournament schedule sets up three crucial fixtures for Bangladesh to test their mettle on the international stage. The team is scheduled to face Malaysia on 25 September, followed by a match against Singapore on 28 September, before concluding the group fixtures with a game against Indonesia on 1 October.
