Bangladesh Launches Grassroots Sports Initiative and Mini-Stadium
The government has launched a grassroots sports talent hunt and long-term training program, alongside inaugurating a new upazila mini-stadium. Selected young athletes will begin a two-month intensive training regimen starting September 19 at BKSP.

The government of Bangladesh has officially taken a significant step toward developing sports talent from the grassroots level by introducing a comprehensive, long-term training program aimed at nurturing young athletes. This initiative was highlighted during the inauguration of a new upazila mini-stadium in Araihazar, Narayanganj, where the authorities emphasized the importance of fostering future sports stars through structured institutional support and professional development.
During the inauguration ceremony held in Narayanganj's Araihazar, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haq addressed the gathering and made notable commitments regarding the future of the country's rising athletes. He assured that the government is fully prepared to take responsibility for the future of these promising young sports talents, ensuring they receive the necessary backing to excel in their respective disciplines.
Highlighting the broader vision of the administration, State Minister Aminul Haq stated that the overarching goal of the government is to transform sports into a prosperous and professional environment for the new generation. He stressed that sports should not be treated merely as temporary entertainment or restricted to short-term field practices, but rather developed into a sustainable, professional ecosystem.
As part of this extensive talent identification effort, the inaugural edition of the 'Notun Kuri Sports' competition saw massive participation from across the country. A total of 168,000 adolescents participated in various events throughout the competition, showcasing their potential and enthusiasm for sports at the local level.
From this massive pool of participants, selectors successfully identified 306 highly promising players who demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication. These selected athletes have now been slated for advanced development to prepare them for higher levels of competitive sports in the future.
To ensure their optimal development, these 306 chosen athletes are scheduled to begin a specialized program. Their two-month intensive training program is officially set to commence on September 19 at the Bangladesh Institute of Sports Education, commonly known as BKSP, marking a crucial milestone for youth sports development in the nation.
