The state-owned power grid operator, Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB), has specifically highlighted that the evening peak time will witness the most severe strain on the national power infrastructure. During this critical period, the country's power distribution networks are expected to face a maximum load shedding of 2,703 megawatts.
Among the various regions impacted by the energy shortfall, the capital and its surrounding areas under the Dhaka region are projected to bear the brunt of the crisis. PGCB statistics reveal that the Dhaka region alone could experience the highest level of load shedding, reaching up to 698 megawatts.
In addition to the massive deficit anticipated in the capital, the operational data released by Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB) outlines several other allocation figures linked to the nationwide power management strategy for August 29, 2026. These specific generation and deficit figures include individual breakdowns of 190 megawatts, 315 megawatts, and 350 megawatts.
Further detailed statistics from the PGCB report indicate additional regional adjustments and capacity metrics totaling 150 megawatts, 350 megawatts, 100 megawatts, 300 megawatts, and 250 megawatts respectively, compounding the overall 2,703 megawatt evening peak shortage.
