The third day of the cricket match between Bangladesh and Australia in Chittagong saw significant action during the morning session on Saturday. Bangladesh advanced their team total to 372 for the loss of eight wickets, improving upon their previous overnight position of 352 for six wickets.
With this progression, the Bangladesh team successfully extended their overall lead against Australia to 174 runs, building further upon the earlier 153-run lead that had been established during the course of the innings.
During the morning play, batsman Hasan Mahmud was dismissed after being trapped lbw by Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood. Mahmud contributed 14 runs to the team total, consuming a very patient 92 balls in the process during a stay at the crease lasting 163 minutes.
Through this defensive knock, Hasan Mahmud secured a notable statistical milestone for Bangladesh cricket. He played the second-highest number of balls ever faced by a Bangladeshi batsman coming in to bat at number eight or lower against Australia.
This performance places Mahmud just behind a previous national record set in 2017. During that match, also played in Chittagong, Nasir Islam's counterpart Nasir Hossain had faced 97 balls to establish the highest number of deliveries played from the lower order.
