Bangladesh Currency Market Sees Rise in US Dollar and Major Currencies
The foreign exchange market in Bangladesh experienced an increase in the value of the US dollar and most major currencies on Sunday. Bangladesh Bank data indicates the average market price of the dollar reached 122.32 taka.

On Sunday, marking the first working day of the week, the country's currency market recorded an upward trend in the exchange rates for the US dollar alongside several other major foreign currencies. According to official data released by Bangladesh Bank, the average market price for a single US dollar has now settled at 122.32 taka.
The latest updates from the central bank show that this currency appreciation is not limited to the US dollar alone. A broader review of the foreign exchange market reveals that the values of several other prominent global currencies have also climbed. Specifically, rates for the euro, the British pound, the Australian dollar, the Singapore dollar, the Chinese yuan, and the Japanese yen all registered increases during the trading sessions.
Despite the upward movement across a wide array of foreign currencies, the currency market did note one notable exception. Among the major currencies tracked by financial institutions and market observers, only the Indian rupee managed to buck the prevailing trend, maintaining its previous exchange rate without any recorded change.
Market analysis further highlights a distinct difference between the official rates published by the central bank and the actual transaction rates available to the general public. According to market observations, foreign currencies—including the US dollar—are typically sold in the open market at prices that are somewhat higher than the figures officially published by Bangladesh Bank.
This ongoing adjustment in currency values continues to be closely monitored by financial analysts and businesses operating within Bangladesh. As the central bank releases its periodic updates, stakeholders across the domestic financial sector remain attentive to how these shifting exchange rates for the dollar, euro, pound, and other major currencies will impact overall market dynamics in the days ahead.
