Bangladesh Bank Raises Annual Foreign Currency Travel Quota to $18,000
Bangladesh Bank has increased the annual foreign currency travel quota for adult citizens to 18,000 US dollars, up from the previous limit of 12,000 dollars. A traveler can take a maximum of 5,000 dollars in cash, while the remaining amount must be used via cards or other approved methods.

Bangladesh Bank has officially implemented a significant increase in the annual foreign currency travel quota for adult Bangladeshi citizens, raising the ceiling from the previous limit of 12,000 US dollars to a new total of 18,000 US dollars.
Under the updated regulations announced by the central financial institution, individual travelers must adhere to specific distribution rules regarding how they carry and spend these funds during their trips abroad. Specifically, a traveler is permitted to take a maximum of 5,000 dollars in physical cash.
For the remaining balance of the newly expanded allowance, funds must be accessed and utilized through alternative, approved payment methods, with cards being the primary designated option for transactions outside the country.
In addition to the adjustments made for adult citizens, Bangladesh Bank has also outlined updated provisions for minor travelers. For children under 12 years of age, the established travel quota is calculated at 50 percent of the adult limit.
Consequently, children under the age of 12 are now permitted to access up to 9,000 dollars annually for their travel needs, maintaining the proportional structure previously applied to the lower adult ceiling of 12,000 dollars.
The formal announcement of these financial policy changes was made when Bangladesh Bank issued an official circular regarding this comprehensive revision on Sunday, September 6, updating the nation's foreign exchange regulations.
