The Bangladesh cricket team, led by captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, has officially arrived in Mackay, Australia, ahead of the final Test match of the series. The touring side comes into this crucial fixture high on confidence following a historic and emphatic nine-wicket victory over Australia in the opening Test held in Darwin.

However, the team's transition from Darwin to Mackay was far from straightforward. The travel schedule faced unexpected complications, stretching what should have been a much shorter trip into a grueling journey lasting approximately 14 hours. According to team details, the delay was primarily caused by flight complications and a significantly extended transit period.

Speaking to the media in Mackay on Wednesday, fast bowler Shoriful Islam opened up about the logistical hurdles the squad faced during the transit. Despite the exhaustion brought on by the lengthy travel day, the left-arm pacer was quick to shift his focus to the favourable environmental conditions awaiting the team in their new venue.

Reflecting on the climate, Shoriful noted that the weather in Mackay is much cooler compared to Darwin, where conditions were considerably hotter. He added that the current climate in Mackay feels quite suitable for the visiting Bangladeshi players, especially when compared to the intense heat back home in their native country.

Shoriful also addressed his personal situation within the squad, having missed the historic first Test victory due to an injury. Despite watching from the sidelines, the fast bowler expressed immense joy and gratitude at being part of such a momentous team achievement, joking that he at least managed to make it into the pictures.

Looking ahead to the final Test in Mackay, Shoriful confirmed that he is working hard on his rehabilitation and is always prepared to take the field. Whether he ultimately returns to the playing eleven depends on his fitness and selection, but the pacer remains optimistic and ready if the opportunity arises.
