Ali Furniture in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, is celebrating its 36th anniversary alongside the integration of modern technology into its manufacturing processes. The wood business in Moulvibazar carries a history spanning several centuries, providing a deep-rooted foundation for local enterprises.
The business began its journey through the initiative of its primary owner, Shah Moshahid Ali, who initially launched his entrepreneurial career with just a tiny shop and manufactured a mere four wooden chairs to start. Over the course of 36 years, the enterprise has expanded its production scale significantly to accommodate a wide variety of customer demands.
Today, the company's product range has broadened remarkably, stretching from modest chairs priced at 3,000 taka to luxurious, royal beds costing as much as 300,000 taka. To enhance precision and production capabilities, the establishment has imported modern CNC machinery directly from China.
Operations at the enterprise now support a substantial workforce, with more than 40 employees currently working inside the factory. Among them is artisan Md. Yunus Sikdar, who has spent 25 years crafting beds and couches for the company. Reflecting on the long-standing quality, Md. Yunus Sikdar stated, "I have been making beds and couches here for 25 years. Not once in all this time has anyone had to bring back a complaint. I hope that will not be necessary in the future either."
Despite challenges such as timber prices surging between 120 and 200 percent, the business maintains strict quality standards for its patrons. To reinforce consumer trust, the institution provides a 10-year replacement warranty on every single piece of furniture it produces.
