Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice-President for South, Central, and West Asia, Yingming Yang, has officially concluded a five-day official visit to Bangladesh. His departure marks the end of a packed schedule of high-level engagements aimed at evaluating economic priorities and exploring future development cooperation between the Manila-based lender and the government in Dhaka.

As part of his itinerary, the ADB vice-president held a formal and significant meeting with Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. During their discussions, both sides reviewed macroeconomic developments and strategic areas for future collaboration to support the country's ongoing development agenda.

A major highlight of the visit was the identification of potential project programming exceeding one billion dollars. This substantial financial pipeline is designed to target key areas of development, infrastructure, and institutional reform across the nation, reinforcing the long-standing partnership between Bangladesh and the multilateral financial institution.

Addressing economic challenges and growth requirements, Mr. Yang noted that there is a growing need to enhance competitiveness, accelerate private investment, and strengthen economic resilience within Bangladesh. He elaborated on these themes while delivering the keynote paper at a national seminar concerning integrated gateway and network development (IGND) held in the port city of Chittagong.

Further elaborating on the strategic goals of these initiatives, the ADB vice-president emphasized that such concerted efforts and targeted programs can significantly strengthen connectivity between the country's various growth centers, markets, and regional as well as global value chains. His remarks underscored the regional development bank's commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive growth in Bangladesh.
