Abahani Coach Mariful Haque Analyzes Bangladesh Football Flaws

Mariful Haque, who has been involved with Bangladeshi football for over two decades, has taken to social media to share his perspectives on the root causes of the sport's backwardness in the country. Drawing from more than twenty years of personal study, the veteran mentor analyzed why Bangladesh continues to lag behind internationally while other nations achieve notable progress and secure participation in major global events such as the World Cup.

Throughout his extensive career, Mariful Haque has coached almost all of the top-tier football teams in Bangladesh and has previously served as the head coach of the national team. His deep involvement across various levels of the domestic game provides him with a unique vantage point on the systemic issues facing the sport within the nation, giving considerable weight to his public commentary on the matter.

In his social media post, Mariful Haque specifically highlighted the structural differences between Bangladesh and nations that have successfully developed their football programs. Reflecting on these crucial elements, Mariful Haque stated, "For more than two decades, from my personal study, I believe that the reasons for the backwardness of Bangladesh's football and at the same time the countries that have improved in football and participated in major events like the World Cup have at least four of the following 6 issues existing or existed. Until we can improve these issues, our football will not move forward under any circumstances."

Currently, Mariful Haque is serving as the coach of Abahani Limited, continuing his active involvement at the highest levels of domestic club football. From this vantage point, he concluded his social media commentary by directing a pointed observation toward his peers within the sports administration and coaching fraternity regarding the current state of local infrastructure and support.
